Physics is a section. Plan for it.
The science, the reading, the physics and the arithmetic — each on its own clock, and no pass mark, only the Academic Average you are aiming for. The item on the bench is a real physics item from the course; the diagram is drawn from its numbers.
sin θc = n₂ / n₁ = 1.0 / 1.5 ≈ 0.67. Anything steeper than θc is reflected back into the glass — the principle an optical fibre runs on.
Light travels inside a glass fiber of index 1.5 surrounded by air (n = 1.0). What is the sine of the critical angle for total internal reflection at the glass–air boundary?
At the critical angle, sin θc = n2/n1 = 1.0/1.5 ≈ 0.67. (B) uses 1.5/2 incorrectly. (C) inverts the ratio to n1/n2 = 1.5, which is impossible since a sine cannot exceed 1. (D) is a guessed round value with no derivation.

Every section on its own clock. Physics counts in the average.
A full-length here is the real day: four timed sections and the one optional break. Every OAT score is 200–400 in steps of 10, and there is no pass mark — your target Academic Average is the line, 320 until you set your own.
The OAT’s Academic Average is the mean of all six standard scores — Quantitative Reasoning, Reading, Biology, General and Organic Chemistry, and Physics (ADA). Example numbers; yours come from your own sittings on SynkMind’s approximate practice scale — never an official score.
Five things built for the optometry applicant.
Every plan opens everything. These are the five that matter most for this exam.
Two full-lengths of 228
Each sat as four timed sections with the real break, then a score report against your target. Our reading section is 48 questions; the real one is 50. Between the full-lengths: Natural Sciences, Physics and Quantitative forms at three difficulties, and three reading sets.
Every wrong answer gets its reason
Each explanation says why the right answer is right and why each wrong one fails — quantitative comparison included, where the four answers are always the same four.
A square has area 36. Quantity A: the perimeter of the square ; Quantity B: 20 Compare Quantity A and Quantity B.
Side = √36 = 6, so perimeter = 4 × 6 = 24 > 20, and Quantity A is greater. B is smaller. Not equal. The square is fully specified, so determinable.

Before you start
Are the lectures OAT-specific?
The biology, chemistry and reading lectures are shared with our DAT course, because the two exams test the same science there, and they are addressed to the OAT. Physics and Quantitative Reasoning, quantitative comparison included, are the OAT’s own.
Why is there no pass line?
The OAT has no pass mark: every school of optometry decides what it wants. SynkMind draws your target instead — by default an Academic Average of 320, the national average of students who entered optometry school in ASCO’s latest published year (322.3, 2020–21).
Is the score an OAT score?
No. It is an approximate practice scale on the ADA’s 200–400 range — never an official score. Our reading section is 48 questions; the real one is 50.
Are these real exam questions?
No. Every item is original, written to the public content outline and checked blind by a second AI model that never sees the key. Nothing is copied from a published form, and we are not affiliated with any examining board.
How does the free day work?
